Crawford to leave Denfeld for position with district

Denfeld Principal Eddie J. Crawford has been appointed interim assistant superintendent of Duluth Public Schools by Superintendent Bill Gronseth. Crawford notified Denfeld staff via e-mail Monday evening.

"I accepted the position with some hesitation," Crawford wrote. "I came to Denfeld seven years ago without knowing exactly what I was getting myself into, and I have grown to love and appreciate the staff, students and members of the Denfeld community."

Crawford first served as Denfeld's principal from 2005 to 2010. He was reassigned to East High School when Denfeld closed for remodeling, but returned when Denfeld reopened and Central High School Principal Lisa Mitchell-Krocak retired at the end of the 2010-2011 school year.

"The combining of Central and Denfeld students and staff has only served to enhance and strengthen the culture of this great school," Crawford noted.

Vice Principal Tonya Sconiers will take over as interim principal at Denfeld.
