Sconiers appointed principal at Denfeld

Tonya Sconiers has been appointed principal at Denfeld High School. She had served as interim principal since Eddie J. Crawford was promoted to assistant superintendent of Duluth Public Schools in February.

"I accepted the position knowing what an outstanding and dedicated team of educators I have the pleasure to work with and with the realization that Denfeld High School is a community treasure and source of pride for many," Sconiers wrote in an e-mail to Denfeld staff.

Sconiers previously served as assistant principal for Denfeld and East high schools and also was a teacher at Kohl Elementary School in Boulder, Colo.

She holds a master of arts in educational administration, supervision, curriculum and program development from the University of Colorado and a bachelor of science degree in human development and family studies from Colorado State University. She serves on the board of directors for Men As Peacemakers and has served on the board of directors for Woodland Hills Academy.
