Former Denfeld teacher Jean Endrizzi honored

Longtime former Duluth Denfeld High School teacher Jean Endrizzi recently was inducted into the Hurley (Wis.) Education Foundation as a distinguished alumna.

Endrizzi graduated from Lincoln High School in Hurley in 1948. She taught English and speech at Denfeld for more than 31 years, retiring in 1986, and coached two speech teams to state championships. She was named “Woman of the Year” by Port Cities Luncheon in 1992 and has served on several boards and volunteered for many organizations in Duluth including the Duluth Playhouse, Denfeld Faculty Senate, Friends of the Public Library, the Duluth Folk Festival and Glensheen docents.

She has taught and attended classes at the University of Minnesota Duluth’s “University for Seniors” for 23 years.
