Charlie Wren
Chuck Wren helped lead Denfeld's 1948 football team to a 9-0 record
and the Minnesota State High School Football Championship.
In the city and state championship game against
Central, Hren scored two touchdowns in a 25-0 victory. He was also
homecoming king.
A two-way player, Hren led the Big 10 in rushing
at Northwestern University and was MVP his senior year, playing
with a broken leg.
He was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles, but
injury prevented participation. He entered military service, then
returned to Denfeld as a social studies teacher, coaching the football
from 1960 to 1969 and serving as athletic director.
