Boys Basketball Preview: Denfeld Hunters

Coach: Jeff Nace, 14th season

Conference: Lake Superior

2006-07 record: 17-8, 9-3

Key returnees: The Hunters lost the majority of their team to graduation but return junior G Ben Hayes.

Key game: Denfeld must wait until March 3 for a chance to gain redemption for a season-opening loss to Central.

Outlook: Inexperience could be a problem for the Hunters, who lost four-year starter Steve Birman among others. On the positive side, the lack of secured starting positions should create a healthy competition for playing time. With a wide-open section, there’s no reason Denfeld couldn’t be part of the mix.
