Carter proceeds in 400
Duluth Denfeld sprinter Josh Carter was 1-for-3
during Friday’s preliminaries. He qualified for today’s
finals in the 400-meter dash, but missed in the 100 and 200.
In the 400, the senior finished in 51.09 seconds.
Friday’s varying weather conditions of intermittent
rain and gusting winds didn’t help Carter in the third heat
of the 100.
“They were running in this monsoon,”
Denfeld coach Frank Huie said. “The conditions were worse
in his heat. … We aren’t complaining. It was fate.”
Carter finished fifth in his 100 heat in 11.32
and sixth in his 200 heat in 22.67.
