Three Northland girls finalists for goalie award

Three Northland girls are among five finalists announced today for the Let’s Play Hockey newspaper “Senior Goalie of the Year’’ award.

Laura Bellamy of the Duluth Northern Stars, Kaye Collier of Hibbing-Chisholm and Jessica Havel of Grand Rapids-Greenway are joined as finalists by Chelsey Froseth of Roseau and Jessica Newstrom of Cambridge-Isanti-Mora-Pine City.

The award is based on on-ice talent, academics, community and extracurricular activities, citizenship and coachability.

The top senior goalie will be announced at the Ms. Hockey Awards banquet on March 1 at the St. Paul RiverCentre. The five finalists for Ms. Hockey will be named in the Feb. 19 edition of Let’s Play Hockey. Both awards are sponsored by the hockey newspaper and the Minnesota Wild.
