Denfeld’s Bellamy tabbed for all-star
softball game
Duluth Denfeld senior pitcher Laura Bellamy was
the lone Northland player selected to participate in the 21st annual
Minnesota High School All-Star Softball Series on June 7 at Caswell
Park in North Mankato, Minn.
The right-hander, who debuted in the seventh grade
and is headed to Harvard University to play college hockey, is 10-5
with a 1.01 ERA and 170 strikeouts in 99 innings. She’s batting
.407 with 23 runs scored and 18 RBIs and led the Hunters to a No.
3 seed in the Section 7AAA playoffs. Denfeld (15-5) faces Anoka
in today’s Elite Eight double-elimination tournament at 11
a.m. in St. Francis, Minn.
The all-star series features 72 of the state’s
top seniors on six teams and is played on the same fields as the
state tournament.
