Hunters stay alive in section tourney

Duluth Denfeld went 2-1 at the Section 7AAA Elite 8 Double Elimination tourney Saturday in St. Francis, Minn., and remains in the hunt for a section title.

The Hunters defeated Anoka 7-6 in nine innings, fell 3-1 to St. Francis and beat Duluth Central 1-0 in nine innings.

Katherine Andreiko and Jessica Havron drove in the game-winning runs in the first and third games, respectively. Pitcher Laura Bellamy collected 23 strikeouts in the three games.

Duluth Denfeld (17-6) will play Anoka (13-10) in an elimination game Wednesday at noon in St. Francis. The winner will play either St. Francis (16-6) or Forest Lake (12-9) at 4 p.m. An if-necessary game would be played Thursday.

Duluth Central and Grand Rapids were eliminated.
