Staff grants awarded to Denfeld teachers from alumni

The Denfeld classes of 1955, '56 and '59 have donated over $50,000 to the Greater Denfeld Foundation for grants to be used by staff at the school.

This year, the interest on the endowment allowed for $3,500 in grants to be awarded. The recipients are:

* Bob Fox - $250 for the purchase of proper goggles for physical science classrooms. (From the class of 1956.)

* Hamilton Smith - $500 for materials to build liquid nitrogen experiment apparatuses. (From the class of 1959.)

* Keith Mesedahl - $500 for the purchase of books for the media center. (From the class of 1955.)

* Jill Lofald - $1,000 for speech team scholarships and/or national competition. (From the class of 1955.)

* Carolyn Heistad - $500 for the purchase of burets and weighing scales. (From the class of 1955.)

* Jean Priest - $500 for the purchase of graphic novels for alt English classes of low reading ability. (From the class of 1955.)

* Alan Harbson - $250 for the purchase of multicultural text for grades 10 and 11. (From the class of 1955.)
